How to Delete a Subdomain in cPanel?

Deleting a subdomain in cPanel is a simple yet crucial task when you're reorganizing or decluttering your hosting account. Whether you're removing outdated sections of your site or consolidating resources, the process involves just a few steps. This guide will walk you through how to locate and delete a subdomain from your cPanel, as well as how to handle the related files.

Steps to Delete a Subdomain in cPanel:

  1. Log into cPanel

    • Access your cPanel account by entering your login credentials (usually at yourdomain.com/cpanel).
    • This will bring you to your cPanel dashboard where all domain management tools are available.
  2. Navigate to the Subdomains Section

    • In the cPanel dashboard, scroll down to the Domains section.
    • Click on the Subdomains option to view and manage the subdomains for your main domain.
  3. Locate the Subdomain You Want to Delete

    • In the Subdomains interface, you'll see a list of all your current subdomains.
    • Find the subdomain you wish to delete by carefully checking its name.
  4. Delete the Subdomain

    • Next to the subdomain you want to remove, click on the Remove link.
    • A confirmation message will appear. Confirm your decision to delete the subdomain.
    • This will remove the subdomain from your hosting configuration but will not delete the associated files.
  5. Remove Subdomain Files (Optional)

    • To free up space, you may also want to delete the files associated with the subdomain.
    • Go to File Manager in cPanel, navigate to the folder that corresponds to your subdomain, and manually delete it if it's no longer needed.
  6. Verify the Subdomain Deletion

    • After deleting, go back to the Subdomains section to make sure the subdomain is no longer listed.
    • Optionally, you can try accessing the subdomain in a browser to ensure it's fully removed.
