What is a subdomain?

A subdomain is a part of your main domain that allows you to create separate and distinct sections of your website. It's often used to organize and segment different functionalities or services offered under the same domain. For instance, if your main domain is example.com, you can create subdomains like blog.example.com for a blog section or store.example.com for an online store. Subdomains help manage content and services separately without the need for additional domain registrations, making them cost-effective and convenient for expanding a website.
